My Gym Routine

I never used to be in to fitness at all, in fact the sheer thought of the gym was enough to make me heave. However after signing up to take part in the Midlands Tough Mudder Half I decided last December that it was time to sign up for the gym so to limit the likelihood of me actually dying.

When I first signed up, I was going a couple of times a week, it’s always awkward when you first join a gym because you have no idea what you’re doing, and what you should be doing to reach your goals. Now I hit the gym around 4-5 times a week, and it’s a great way to start the day. I’ve been super stressed lately hence the lack of blog posts, however I have found that going to the gym each morning has really helped me to manage the stress and go in to work with a positive outlook.

I have tried a few different fitness plans to help me get in shape and achieve the goals I have set myself in the gym, however the one I am using right now is so far working the best, whether it’s because I am more invested in it, or the plan just works better for me, either way I have seen some good improvements over the last couple of weeks. I signed up to the BodySpace app from BodyBuilding.com which sets you up with a plan based on your goals, bodyweight, height and experience, along with a couple of other factors. Due to being young with a fast metabolism, I was paired up with the humorously named ‘Big Man on Campus’ plan which is designed to combat speedy metabolisms and developed a more defined body. Each plan is created by a different expert, my plan was created by Fitness YouTuber Steve Cook…and whilst I definitely don't have a body like his, it’s going alright! I mainly focus on weights and building muscle, due to my crazy fast metabolism if I add too much cardio I lose all of the other work I have put it…it’s definitely a balancing act!

Herbalife H24 Protein Powder

Supplement wise, I don't really use too much. I have definitely upped my protein intake, and up until recently I have been using the Herbalife H24 protein, it’s so good and the chocolate flavour tastes amazing but unfortunately I ran out and was in desperate need, so had to pick up another brand which is nowhere near as nice - out of the three different brands I have tried lately I found that H24 worked best for me, the flavour and consistency was also loads better, it just gets used up super quick! I was also using the Herbalife CR7 electrolyte drinks fronted by Ronaldo, the goji berry flavour tastes great and helps to keep you hydrated during a workout. Like the protein though I ran out and haven't yet restocked my cupboards with it. You can check out the full Herbalife H24 range by clicking here.

Nike Sneakers for Men

I am definitely loyal to Nike when it comes to activewear, their dri-fit training tops and shorts are great for keeping you cool during a workout - they’re also amazingly fast drying so after chucking them in the wash, they’ll be dry and ready to use by the next morning! If you follow me on social media, you’ll know I am forever swapping sneaks when it comes to the gym, but I’ve found the best pair for me, they’re so comfortable and only cost me 30 quid or so in the Nike outlet store. They are the Air Max Modern Flyknit and as well as having the cushioned Air Max bubble, they also have a really cushioned insole which is great for most things in the gym, but is especially noticeable if you’re squatting or running, it just offers that extra bit of support.

I am always looking to up my routine, if you have any tips or tricks you want to share, make sure you do in the comments below or over on my social media accounts - I’d love to hear what you recommend!
